India Keeps Ban On Goa Iron Ore Mining Allows Inventory
May 23, 2014 Odisha, India’s largest Iron ore producing states, produces around 72 MnT in FY14 i.e. 51 of country’s total output at around 142 MnT. The Supreme Court has given 6 months of stay on iron ore mining in Odisha as the government sort out pending renewals, considering captive miners (Tata Steel SAIL) on a priority basis.The mining ban was partially lifted in April 2014 by limiting yearly ore extraction to 20 million tonnes. However, the mining frenzy picked up in the last few weeks of 2016, as per locals.
